On April 21, 2017, Remedy Association
held an interactive talk with students of Cambridge College of Arts, Science
and Technology in Yaounde, Cameroon. The aim of the workshop was to motivate
students to be serious with their studies, and see education as a tool to solve
personal, family and community challenges. During
the exchange, the students highlighted some of the challenges they face in and
out of school. However, they received tips on how to address these challenges
and were taught vital issues such as time management, building and maintaining
positive relationships and ethics. At the end of the event,
students gained knowledge on time management, building and maintaining positive
relationships, networking and adhering to societal and school rules and
regulations.
On
April 22, 2017, Remedy organization brought together public servants, civil
society actors, youth leaders and development stakeholders from all walks of
life in Yaounde, Cameroon. The aim of the seminar was to equip participants
with sustainable leadership tools and strategies for better governance and
management. Coordinated by distinguished leadership experts, participants were
introduced to key leadership principles, methods and leadership styles. Group activities were organized to give
participants an opportunity to identify and discuss best leadership practices.
At the end of group activities, group leaders presented their findings and
proffered recommendations. Participants were also trained on
managerial techniques and principles. They had their various questions answered,
and some leadership case studies were solved. Managerial challenges were
brought to the limelight and ways of tackling them were exposed. At the end of the seminar, participants
gained knowledge and skills on modern strategies and techniques in managing and
leading people.
On
June 16, Remedy Association in Partnership with the Youth Alliance for
Leadership and Development in Africa (YALDA-PAIDWA), joined the international
community to celebrate the International day of the African Child under
the theme "Accelerating Protection, Empowerment and Equal Opportunities
for Children in Africa by 2030.The
event which was celebrated at the Pan African Institute for Development West
Africa, gave youth leaders, gender activist and development stakeholders the
opportunity to discuss some of the challenges faced by the African child,
and equally seek sustainable solutions towards making the lives of African
children better by 2030. Also,
several presentations on ways to create conducive environments for African
children were made by students of the Pan African Institute for Development.
Some of the presentations dwelled on job creation, access to opportunities and
funding.After
the various presentations, participants were divided in to sub groups to devise
strategies to accelerate protection, empowerment, and equal opportunities for
African children by 2030. At
the end of the ceremony, participants undertook to protect children in their
various communities and ensure that they are empowered and have equal access to
opportunities.
On
July 11, 2017, Remedy Association in partnership with Word Empowerment Radio
(FM 102.7), organized a workshop to boost the morale of development actors in
the Buea Municipality. The workshop brought together youth leaders, community
development actors and students from various institutions of higher learning. Participants were trained on various personal
development strategies such as goal setting, networking techniques, time
management and managing self.During
the seminar, participants discussed some of the challenges faced in executing
various organizational and personal objectives. Participants were paired in
groups of three to brainstorm on ethical processes that can enable them better
manage their organization and lead a fulfilled life.At
the end of the training, participants gained insights on methods and techniques
in managing self, branding themselves and leveraging their organizational
activities for better visibility.
On
August 11, 2017, Remedy Organization in partnership with Health Information for
All (HIFA) and Wem’Africa organization, held a health literacy workshop to educate
inhabitants of the Buea municipality on health practices that can increase life
span and reduce death rate. The event was chaired by health specialist and
development experts. Presentations were made on issues such as drug abuse, the
Zika virus, mental health and disease prevention.Participants
were given techniques on diseases prevention and tips to live healthily. Also, participants
were exposed to strategies on stress management. Moreover,
a health specialist from the Mt Mary hospital in Buea, advised female participants
to always observe safer hygienic practices especially during periods of
menstruation. Towards
the end of the workshop, participants were paired to come up with possible
recommendations on how to promote health literacy and assist those in difficult
situations. At the end of the
training, participants received certificates of participation.
Remedy will offer sanitary Pads to at least 65 Females and 35 Males IDPs. The action will serve at least 100 young IDPs in Buea. There shall be free medical examinations offer on the spot for the targeted beneficiaries. They shall also be educated during a workshop of GBSV and other initiatives programs.
Happy Women's Day to all women around the world. Today March 8, 2021 was a memorable day with the Buea women in the South West Region of Cameroon. We had a wonderful time where we talked about building Women Leaders and Entrepreneurs through the Creation of Sustainable Economic Opportunities in a bid to alleviate poverty and better their livelihood. We also educated the women on how their rights can be protected and how they could contribute to the fight against the spread of the COVID-19 both in their homes and in the society at large.
